Nigel Campbell | Music Businessman and a Podcast host of Music Matters: The Caribbean Edition
A Director of Production One Ltd.

Nigel Campbell is a music businessman focused on expanding the appeal of Island Music globally via new media, live performance and distribution. His passion for Caribbean jazz music has lead him to create a multimedia platform and publish the magazine Jazz in the Islands which is dedicated to compiling and reviewing Caribbean jazz recordings, musicians and festivals throughout the islands. He is a director of Production One Ltd, the company that produces Jazz Artists on the Greens, the largest Caribbean Jazz event in Trinidad, and other live music events for which he has served as an artistic director. He has worked with and been advisor to other local and regional festivals towards developing the live music sector as a tourism product.

He produces, and co-hosts with journalist Laura Dowrich-Phillips the top-rated podcast Music Matters: The Caribbean Edition, which features music business conversations, interviews and analysis focused on all the music in the islands.

His research interests are the music business in small economies, and the development of markets for Caribbean music internationally. His blog serves as a clearinghouse of pertinent information and opinion on the development of the music industry in Trinidad and Tobago and the Caribbean with his critical analysis being sought after for local stakeholder development discussions and citation. He recently co-authored the chapter on Popular Music Flows in The Routledge Handbook of the Culture and Media of the Americas.
