Anderson Nelson, Assistance Manager at Aegis, attended the AIFAC Conference on November 21st and 22nd, hosted by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Trinidad and Tobago (ICATT). He shares his experence.
The ICATT conference held last week was a success! It was really great to attend with my colleagues at Aegis and partner companies – Eve Anderson and PRSL.
As the Assistant Manager in Accounting Outsourcing, it was really important to get the latest insights on the emerging roles and challenges of the profession and how to adapt to a continuous changing environment of technology and evolution.
The theme of the event was: Pioneering Excellence. Our panel discussions, presentations and featured speeches allowed me to gather valuable information. Here are my takeaways;
- Having purpose with vision: Your purpose enhances your vision and motivates action. Everyone should have a purpose that drives them. It’s the main driver of productivity and organization fit.
- Being strategic and agile: Accountants are no longer book keepers sitting in corner offices and reporting on historic figures. The introduction and progress of AI encourages automation in the reports to allow more time for strategic decision making and forward-looking strategy. Accountants are important to the CEOs, CFOs and Managing Directors of companies. However, our traditional roles will become obsolete if we do not embrace the changes which are already underway with emerging technology and the changing landscape of businesses and operations.
More important than emerging AI and technology, are the emerging dynamics of our Gen Zs who we must accept as the future leaders of businesses.
