Habitat for Humanity T&T 2019 Women Build Initiative
“A successful woman is one who can build a firm foundation with the bricks life has thrown at her.” This was the adage emblazoned on the backs of the distinguished women leaders who came together In May to help build a new home in Gasparillo for a single mother and her family. Among them Her Excellency Paula-Mae Weekes, President of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago; Janelle ‘Penny’ Commissiong, Chairman of Tourism Trinidad Destination Management Company Ltd.; and Chairman of Aegis Business Solutions, Angela Lee Loy.
These women and many others came together to give their support, time and labour to Habitat for Humanity T & T’s 2019 Women Build initiative, an annual project that brings women together to help in the construction of homes. During this, the Invitational Build Day, Lee Loy and several business leaders were mobilized to help complete the priming and painting of internal and external walls of the home and in so doing were able to raise awareness and give back to those for whom a safe, decent place to live had been but a dream.
“The comradie experienced in helping the less fortunate enjoy decent housing is truly fulfilling” says Angela.
